Not only do allergists deal with diagnosing but also treat allergy-based complaints. Thanks to their knowledge and skills, they are entitled to desensitize.
In the first place they must choose relevant allergens. It is highly important because this determines whether the entire therapy is going to be successful or not.
An allergy specialist must choose the allergens which have been confirmed throughout allergy tests. Recommendation is that one vaccine should not contain more than four allergens. A proper mixing of allergens is equally essential – e.g. seasonal with year-long.
The first desensitizing vaccine must contain a small amount of allergens – a way smaller when compared to amount of allergens an allergic person contacts. With time the dose must be enlarged – until a supporting dose is reached.
An allergist responsible for desensitization in Warsaw must suggest a convenient therapy term. Much depends on whether a patient is given seasonal or year-long allergens.
The best time for desensitization in case of seasonal allergy is a period between pollen production. At this time a patient is not exposed to allergens.
With regard to year-long allergy, desensitization must be performed at the time when a specific allergen is least intensive.
