Endoscopic examinations are widely used in many fields of medicine, including gastroenterology, laryngology, proctology, gynaecology, etc.
Use of endoscopic examinations
This type of diagnostic-medical examinations makes it possible to detect lesions and take specimen material for histopathological examination. Moreover, these examinations are used for carrying out minor and minimally invasive procedures. For this type of examination a specially designed device (an endoscope) is used. This device is designed in such a way that it has a built-in camera and a source of light. Endoscopic examinations are carried out in case of suspected dysfunctions of many organs such as stomach, intestines, oesophagus, sinuses, vagina, cervix, bladder, and urethra. These examinations allow to determine the type and extent of lesions.

Benefits of endoscopic examinations
Endoscopic examination allows to see what a doctor would not be able to see with any other imaging tool such as ultrasound or CT. The most common indication for this type of examination is that the patient is suspected of having some type of cancer. During the endoscopy, the doctor can take a specimen of the lesion and have it histopathologically examined. This allows to assess the cell structure of the lesion and determine whether the change may be malignant.
Endoscopy is widely used when a patient is suspected of colorectal, stomach, oesophagus or cervical cancer. Endoscopic examination helps to determine the type of the lesion the doctor is dealing with – whether it is inflammatory or malignant.
Gastroscopy and colonoscopy under anaesthesia
In our modern endoscopic laboratory we perform colonoscopy and gastroscopy examinations – both under local anaesthesia and general anaesthesia.
To reduce the stress associated with these examinations to a minimum, we offer the possibility of performing gastroscopy and colonoscopy under general anaesthesia just at a single visit.
