Tetanus is a serious infectious disease. Tetanus is caused by an infection of the wound with bacteria commonly found in soil, dust, manure or other foreign body infected with the bacterium. The toxin goes along the nerves and damages central nervous system. Symptoms appear from a few up to several dozen days after infection depending on the character, size and the location of the wound. You cannot catch tetanus from another person or an animal. It is spread in all countries in the world.
